Man, the Rio is a total zoo!
I knew that the Event #3 would be very popular, so I paid in advance to avoid the massive lines that always seem to form. Good idea, right? As it turns out, not so much. You have to deal with all the hassle of getting the money sent to the Rio and filling out the preregistration forms and it gets you exactly nothing. You wait in the same multi-hour line either way. I got in just after midnight and headed over, thinking the line would be easier to manage last night. The guys in the front of the line told me it was nearly three hours and I was way too tired to stand in line for that long. I secured a box, dumped my extra cash in it and went to bed. I figured given my east coast biological clock that I’d be up early and most poker players don’t like the morning, so I’m getting set to head over now.
I hope that things are less insane this morning. I feel a bit off kilter because I’m jet lagged, but I feel sharp in terms of poker thinking. I missed out on meeting up with Paulif last night, which is a shame – but its probably better for me overall. I hope to make some noise in these events this year. I’ll try to post updates to my blog via the cell phone or Blackberry.
