Welcome to the land of the dead. Pizza wants to pretend like he is still a detective and get investigation results. We thought it might be informative to discuss them publicly here, but if someone doesn't want to hear them, we will move it to private message. If you object, speak up!
As I said in my PM, I have mucked up my read on bb88 the last three times that getting such a read was relevant - Games 7, 8 and 9(I was mafia in 10). So what would I have discovered about bb88 in my Night One investigation ?
    bb88 is innocent.
Interesting. Like Nutjob I have had questions about him but it occurred to me that though bb88's vote switching at the end of Day One had a frantic air of desperation to it, it very much reminded me of the same bb88 that we saw at the end of the Day One voting in Game 9, when bb88 was innocent and we sent Elmo to the chop. Also, I looked afresh at the interactions between bb88 and MX Rider last night, and the "smell" of it was that it seemed like they were not in the den together.
For my next question, I have to put my mind in the frame of where it was between 10:00 - 11:00 EST when I had a chance to get back to the thread (and before it opened). I left at 4:45 EDT so had to catch up on the last 15 pages or so of the thread and would have had an hour or so to scramble my thoughts together. It's relevant because my game plan before the game even started was to investigate MX Rider next, and the events of Day One strengthened those leanings. Well, the town and the RNG investigated him for me. Sooooo... I had some questions at the the time about BuzzBeeSi, who I thought could possibly be a traitor by casting suspicions left and right about everybody but his "three superiors whom he wanted to impress". His bb88/Pilchard maneuverings at the end also raised an eyebrow.

What are the results on BuzzBeeSi ?

[Edit: Upon reflection, a better investigation would have been to look into the three that MX had listed as suspects - Cic, Cyb and Pilch. But at the time I wasn't in the dead thread yet and hadn't even come up with the idea to do these hypothetical investigations]

I'm sure that MX will understand if I growl in his direction for a sec.

Totally understand there Pizza, but we had to do what we had to do. You were dangerous to us as a vanilla innocent, but even more dangerous because the town would pick up that you were an innocent very easily and you could be trusted.

    so we can openly discuss?
I have backed myself into a terrible corner and my life expectancy in these games is lower than if I lived in a third world country. My only hope is that the self=protecting Doc is resurrected so that San/Bugs/Nut and company have to face the music on Night One.
In the past couple dead threads, the participants have been kept totally in the dark. In #6 and #7, we knew everything. I proposed an interesting "middle ground" to Nside this time, but I must tell you I am VERY tempted to take you up on this "free discussion" business :)
One thing that many observers are curious about is how did the mafia allow themselves to get into such a pickle at the tail end of Day One ? Surely there would have been a quiet and natural way to spare you from the RNG. I knoiw that you were not present and it makes me wonder if your two partners and the traitor were not on hand either.

I had the opportunity to seal the fate completely of someone. I had just gotten online and didn't realize it was a tie at the end. I won't comment one way or the other regarding my partners availability.....
You would be able to tell me whether or not he was mafia but only Nside would know whether or not he was the traitor. My suspicions of the latter are not as strong now as they would have been at approx. 11:00 EST when I would have had to send the PM.

And I get over 24 hours to chew over who my next "investigation" would be :)

As Nside has agreed to answer these queries I don't think it would hurt to divulge what you know about Buzz.
    Buzz is innocent.
and also some kind of doctor type guy. ;)
With two minutes to go, Irish changes his vote from bb88 to Pilchard and here‚??s where things stood when you cast your vote for Cybrarian.

SJ 3 vote (Cic, Dogs, San)
    Cic 1 votes (MX)
MX 3 votes (Pie, Pilch, Wynton)
pilch 3 votes (bb, buzz, irish)
    Buzz 1 votes (SJ)
    bb88 ‚?? 2 votes (Nut, Cyb)

San had not yet made his switch from SJ to bb88.

Did you really mean to vote for Cyb ? (a vote for SJ or Pilch would have put you out of harm‚??s way)
It appears to me that the players are becoming very skilled and it will now be quite difficult for the mafia to win another game unless we increase the mafia balance of power. This game was arguably tilted towards the mafia and I believe that they will lose convincingly this go-round.
I think it is somewhat possible that the traitor will be the last mafia player standing.
I'm off air for the next four hours or so. Play nice.
I salute Buzz for having the cojones to take on such a high profile persona while being the Doc, especially in his first game.

I still think that SJ was a doctor-hunt hit and I could see where the mafia may have truly wanted a Pie or a Pilch/Nut/San but may have worried that such a target would be protected. [I'll concede that one or more of these four may be Mafia]. If they are going to Doc hunt again tonight, Buzz looks safe.
Thanks for your input, Nside. And I think we can draw some conclusions from your comments concerning how the game is going about the identity of some of our key players.

My vote for cyb was actually intentional at that second as I was reading about 4 pages prior to the vote close. At that time, I didn't realize it was tied, or for that matter, where the vote stood at all.
The tide is turning against San, for instance. And Pie is riding high in the saddle.

One thing that I noted about San last night was that his practically pointless vote switch that he made from SJ to bb88 at the tail end of Day One (switching from one set of 3 to go to the RNG to another set of 3) reminded me of the practically pointless switch he made at the tail end of Day One in Game 8 (when he was mafia ) that put bigredchef in a tie with No-one for the RNG.

And he has confessed to reading Game 8 with fascination here lately - the last time he was mafia :)

All I will say is that San is a character.......
You describe Cyb as the leader of the movement against you but the same could be argued against San or Pie.

Cyb helps run you up the flagpole (Pilchard and Wynton follow) but then backs off with the observation that the mafia doesn't seem to be fighting it. It's interesting that San is happy and quick to follow Cyb's lead and undo what had been the initial vote for you but that Wynton and Pie stay put (Pilchard too but he was done for the day).
I like how Wynton started the day by clearing certain players who had had interactions with MX that made it look as though they could not have been in the den together. A conundrum for me is that though I might be leaning towards seeing San as mafia now, several of these interactions make it appear that you two were not in the den together.
Pilchard has focused on the 3 players who made a move toward him on Day One. Yet we here in the dead thread now know that bb88 and Buzz are innocent (leaving Irish). I smile because it reminds me of Game 7 when I thought that the giant move that the town made towards Pilchard in the latter part of Day One was a gift from the gods !! Funny too was that the two players who put Pilch in the greatest jeopardy, Tanya Peck and Suited Pair, were as pure as the driven snow.

With that I'm going to take it easy for a while.

I'd really like to put myself to the test of figuring out who the traitor is and I have it narrowed down to a few people currently. Working on that..
Interesting that for even someone in your position it's not a 1-2-3-snap proposition.

If I had had more time before the Day One thread opened, it would have been an interesting project to check out the Game 5 book from the newly created ITH Mafia Library  and see how Marik handled the traitor role. My recollection is that he left very few bread crumbs for his pals.

Nside, may I post a GL/see ya later post in teh den with nothing else in that?
  23. are privy to some highly sensitive info now. I bet the Shark says no.

And we also know that bb88 is inno.

The town briefly discusses whether the life of the traitor should be spared if he becomes known. If I had scored an investigative hit on the traitor, I would have thought I had just hit the mother lode as it would be Information City getting to watch him for the next few days.

(and for what it's worth, I meant to attach those smileys to the Shark says no comment, not to the bb88 reminder as a shameless attempt to show you up :shamed:

Using the privy info that we have here without giving out who my buddies are:

2 of the above are my bad guys leaving 7 possibilities for me to figure out and I have ruled out 3 other players so far leaving me 4 choices:

If I list my 4 choices left, that will tell you 4 people that are not mafia, do you care?
Am out of here for a few hours now but my final thought is that though San has rallied with a few of his recent comments, the four players that I have the most questions about at the moment are Cyb, Irish, Nutjob and San.

(Yet I remember your opening post in which you intimated that the Pizza hit points to Nut and San, which would seem to serve to clear them. What a "pretzel" this game can be at times.)
No, go ahead. I'll hang around a second to see your list before I go.

and by the way, I hate the hit on SJ by my buddies.....

SJ was going to get a lot of discussion today and likley garner a lot of votes and potentially get knocked off by the town. I still don't understand that hit.

    San said:

Cic had been under some pressure from various sources all day, and MX was already in the lead.

Does MX (Note: not San) bring a fellow mafioso into the equation there, or does he try to bring a suspicious innocent into it?....especially given what may have been the truth about him leaving his office approaching the deadline and possibly not coming back.

This was indeed the truth about me leaving work and possibly not coming back.
I am soooo 100% with you on the SJ hit. Some might have interpreted San's move away from him as protection, perhaps.
Right, again. At the time I was regretting that I didn't have a voice to remind the players that you said you would be leaving the thread for an hour.

By the way, where's SJ? He mentioned wanting access earlier today...
He may have had registration/password issues and seems to have a short attention span, anyway.

How in the world could he have let that awesome Scottish/English translation thread die so soon :confused:

    See ya in a few...

I think my loss in this game is a good thing, wish it could have waited another day, but I am liking the way things are filling out at the moment.
