MXRider:Nside, may I post a GL/see ya later post in teh den with nothing else in that?

    Nope. You're done.
  2.
It looks like I locked you guys out for a few hours. I had a security hole. When I corrected it, it stopped all of you from accessing the thread.
  3.
When I look at the four that MX has selected for his pool of traitor candidates and add in his first choice of bb88, a couple of the common denominators that these five share is a willingness to vote for either Pilchard or Suited Jock.

Cicerius has both voted for SJ and has expressed suspicion of Pilchard on more than one occasion but he did not find his way into the pool. I conclude that he is one of MX‚??s denmates.

That leaves four that we don‚??t know about: Pie, Pilchard, San and Wynton. While San was willing to put MX in jeopardy with both his vote and his words, he was not reckless about it to the extent that Pie, Pilch, and Wynton were and ultimately acted in a manner to protect MX at the end. I‚??ll peg him as the other mafioso.

San provides a remarkable list on pg 66. What I find very interesting about it is that the 5 players for whom San dishes out either a ‚??not happy‚?Ě reading or a ‚??could be traitor‚?Ě finding are the very same 5 that MX has listed as his pool of traitor candidates: Cyb, Dogs, Irish, Nut and bb88 (MX‚??s original choice for traitor). The strategy seems to be to turn on the group that likely contains your ally because that is also the group that stands the best chance of looking suspicious to the town. Note how protective San is of Cicerius.

I was going to peg Nutjob as the traitor (partly on a read that he hasn‚??t been free to be on his aggressive inno form this game) but he lists Cicerius on his slate of 3 in his latest post on pg 73.
  4.
If I‚??m correct with these assumptions, then I have to say that Wynton has absolutely rocked here in Game 12. While objectively the game ball may be rightfully Piemaster‚??s, we‚??ve come to expect this level of play from him. Wynton, otoh, has really elevated his play this time‚?¶IMO.
  5.
Finally, if Nside‚??s assessment that the town is likely to win comes true, then I will leapfrog ahead of fanofbilickihair on the Mafia league tables. ‚??Bout time.

    G'night.

Truthfully, i have no idea. it totally does not make sense to me. My only guess is that they were looking for a safe kill that was unlikely to be protected.

Because they were sure you would not be protected by the doctor and that you weren't the traitor.

Nside objects to Bill Evans being rated above Ornette Coleman which sends me scurrying off to Amazon for a listen. The top entry under Coleman is for the recently released "Sound Grammar".

We MUST buy this for Horse as a Christmas present !

    bahahahahaha
  8.
I'd suggest "Of Human Feelings", but Coleman is probably best known as the guy who really shaped modern jazz. He is an innovator and a leader in new musical directions, whereas I think Bill Evans is less of a force in the field. It is also probably the case that I simply prefer sax to piano. Wynton probably likes him because he has the tragic heroin junkie angle going on.
  9.
I like a lot of what Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter did in the mid 60s and I'll have to ask for Wynton's opinion someday
  10.
If you like that, you should probably check out Return to Forever. They are probably my favorites in that vein. I assume if you like Shorter that you liked Weather Report. They did some good stuff when he was with them.

good job on that vote tally Nside, again another awesome moderator job (except for your so called rng)
  11.
With Cyb also willing to throw Cicerius to the dogs, I'm going to narrow my traitor suspects to Irish and Dogs and will lean Irish.

(Absolutely loved Weather Report. Also wasn't aware until recently that Shorter did work with Steely Dan)

you may want to give some time before posting results of the rng to give someone an opportunity to respond
  12.
    RNG time, again.

Wondering what the possibilities may be that we'll see some "ITH Mafia is rigged" posts from MX in the VRR forum later on ?
  13.
I'm not sure how good the Excel RNG is. Perhaps MX can research that question.
  14.
If MX had not been so kind as to share his pool of traitor candidates, I'm not sure how I would be leaning regarding Cicerius but I have little doubt that my attention would have been focused on San.

What would have been the result of a Night Three investigation on San by Detective Pizza ?

is that a sincere question or a clue?
  15.
San is innocent, although he carries a hunter's rifle.

MX: I honestly don't know. I doubt it is really mathematically robust -- but maybe it is.
  16.
San's vote for Nutjob is going to put him under significant pressure tomorrow, I think.

    so who goes tonight?
  17.
Well, I'll be darned. How many times does this game have to teach me not to invest too much confidence in one's conclusions ?:shamed:

    Back to the drawing board.
  18.
I have inside information, but I think that the choice for the mafia is somewhat clear. They have to go for someone that everyone trusts is innocent, I think. If it was me, I'd choose between Pie, Pilchard, San and Wynton. I'd probably go Wynton or San, because I'd worry Pie or Pilchard would be protected by the doc, but any of the four would be good, I think.

However, this is the group that offed SJ on night two and considered what would have been the biggest FPS move ever fairly seriously on that night, so it could be anyone.
  19.
(I would welcome a confirmation from MX on this)

Based on the pool of traitor candidates MX supplied on the previous page and what Nside said re: San, than we have two mafia members embedded in this group of four:

    Cicerius
    Piemaster
    Pilchard
    Wynton

I have to agree with most of what you say there, but I would have to remove San from that list. I think it likely there could be a movement against him tomorrow, so Pie, Pilchard or Wynton for me.

Nside, I'm sure you don't have a big choice in the matter, but you have some risque smilies under the "tongue" category... I'll try to refrain from using a certain one of them especially.
  20.
By the way, MX, I think speculating on the traitor was probably a mistake for you at that point in the game. Do you agree? The mafia strategy is shaping up in a very interesting way -- do you think they can possibly pull it off the way they are headed?

I don't. I think that it will protect at least one of them for a while, but that it can't last in the end game.

Chances San would use his rifle if killed: 100 percent.

Chances he would kill an innocent: See above.
  23.
    Nutjob:So, they thought about a no-kill?

Yep. Could have helped them brilliantly in the end game, if they think it gave them a "known" innocent. It would not have worked in the way they hoped and once MX died it became moot. One of them might not have gone for it in the end.

I agree that it is 100% he'll shoot. The longer he lives, the better chance he has to get a bad guy. He has great insights, he just tends to lock in on an idea too hard once he's got it.
