Welcome to the headquarters of the ITHica mafia!

I have assigned user-names to prevent a clever person from searching the user-list and figuring out who was mafia and who was not. I have also randomly assigned a heirarchy of command in the mafia.

The first name on the list is designated as the "Don." If he should die, control of the family will pass to the next name on the list and so on. This person has theauthority to send me the evening PM indicating who the target of your hits will be.

If you wish, you can elect a new Don by majority vote, should that prove to be needed.

You have a very distinguished list of members. I will be disapointed in you if you do not win.<table width=50%><tr><td><strong><font color=#B22222>Alias</strong></td><td><strong>ITH Name</font></strong></td></tr>
    <tr><td>Lucchese</td><td>ey215</td></tr>
    <tr><td>Genovese</td><td>AuPanner</td></tr>
    <tr><td>Gambino</td><td>malteg</td></tr>
    <tr><td>Columbo</td><td>toronexti</td></tr>
    <tr><td>Bonanno</td><td>Risskijim</td></tr></table>

I know I'm the only one up right now, but my early thoughts on who to kill.

    Cyb, piemaster, suitedjock.

Darvon may also be a good choice, as I know that he's been foloowing game 2 pretty closely, and therefore may be pikcing up some strategy.

I don't think we should eliminate SJ - he's very vocal and will probably start accusing people pretty early.

Cybrarian is probably a good choice, and so is Pie.

Krazytexan I think may be the best choice for the first night kill - she followed the first game VERY closely and figured out a lot of the mafia.

spoonie will be vocal like last time so we should keep him around to point fingers as well.

So I'd settle on Krazy the first night - at least that's my opinion.

Don Lucchese, I kiss your ring.

I say we watch the smart ones that Lusshese mentioned. If they reach false conclusions, we wack 'em good. The innocents will think we offed them because they were getting close and lynch some of the folks they were talking about.

Toom might make a good first victim. He's insightful with his posts, doesn't rush to conclusions. Hit him before he can make the right ones. Just a suggestion, Don Lucchese.

That's why we should keep spoonie and SJ around - they both rush a lot . Darvon I think would also fit that bill as he will be busy at work often and not checking as often as he should. I have a feeling that irishain and Mcfoldem may be more vocal this time as well - considering they were quiet when they were mafia.

I think we'll find out about the rest as we go along

Good point about irish and McF. They lasted longer than the mouthy Mafia, and people will notice the change. They will get pegged as innocent rather early if their post rate goes up. They also might make a nice early target, say day 2 or 3.

So, our working list for the Day 1 wacking is:

    cyb, pie, Krazy, Toom

Of course, we could just go ramdom and leave no traceable clues. Have the Don roll a 15-sided die or something.

Also, are we going to go Hidden when we browse, or hide out in the open? I'd think someone could catch us as we "decloak".

"They will get pegged as innocent rather early if their post rate goes up. They also might make a nice early target, say day 2 or 3."

Actually I think people will be suspicious of them whether or not thier post rate goes up - look at angelfish in game 2 for example. By leaving them around longer people will start to think they are mafia.

I've never been hidden on ITH, so I think I may change my status back and forth. Hidden to send PM and visibile to post as an innocent.

Okay, I'll buy the arguements for toom and krazy, I was also thinking about the random kill hting, but I like offing somone with a purpose for this first night. It may be the only time that events don't dictate who we kill.

Of course, we need to reach a consensus. I'm not just voting.

I think we need a strategy if they start to look to lynch one of us in the first round. Do we defend, do we jump in, what should we do?

Any defense has to be subtle; there are too many sharp minds on our forum! Maybe just one of us waiting for a few hours, then saying something like, "I see your point on lynching XYZ. I also think ABC's posts have shown similar characteristics." Then leave it at that and see if some gormless innocent picks up on it. If one of our favorite chatty types doesn't jump on the bandwagon then the mafia OP can make a bit stronger argument. Nothing darvonish, we have to be subtle, and maybe only one at first. We don't want to get ID'ed together.

The more I think about it the more I think going with Krazy and her spreadsheets may be the way to go. I also think we need to take as much time this first day to decide on some strategy so we dont' go in blind.

Specifically, our posting as innocents strategy. This may be our only good opportuintiy to discuss these things before the daytime posting mania begins. We'll be stronger with a plan than wighout.

I alos want to make sure we hear from all 5 of us before I send our decided vote off.

I think you're right AuPanner. Outright defense is a bad, bad, bad idea. I know it sucks, but we may need to sacrafice on of our own at some point to protect the others. Obviously, we're not there yet. I just would hate to see any of us get lumped in when one of us gets lynched.

It hasn't happened yet, ubt it's a matter of time before the innocents pick a mafia at random on day one.

if you look what happened on day 1 in Game 2 - they let us two innocents go at it and then just put in a vote or 2 to push it over. That's what we need to do. My absence may be noticeable but I'll try to win the turney so everyone knows why ;).

I need some rest, my left foot is swollen from my 24-hour race. I think toom or krazy make good targets on day 1. If they are protected then I'll wager we've found our doctor, but that would just be a bad beat.

ugh out of the turney in 69th - ATs vrs K6o (he tried a resteal) hit the K on river . . .

BTW we do need a couple of outspoken people - if someone gets pointed at it's better if we don't defend but divert attention elsewhere or point out the inconsitencies of the argument (and they all have inconsistencies).

The key in this game is that the innocents have NO information, our main objective is to kill the detective (the doctor doesn't matter so much). Therefore it is imperative that we flush out the detective ASAP.

The vigilante has almost no power in the beggining of the day and even if he does manage to pick one of us as mafia it doesn't matter.

Remember - innocents have NO allegiances, they suspect EVERYONE, so let's let them suspect everyone and the first few days kill at random. I think it's best if we set up our first couple of kills now so that what is said on the first day doesn't affect our decision. Like I said Krazy is probably the best choice for night 1, while cybrarian might be a good choice for night 2 (he's a moderator and might see through any kind of "cloak/decloak" that we do).

If you look at what happened in game 2 the innocents automatically suspected the "smart" people when they weren't lynched - as such I think we should leave Pie around for the first few days until he does something suspicious.

The rest I think is better to discuss after the happening of day 1 + 2.

The setting up the strategy for the first couple of days makes sense to me. It'll hopefully let some people accuse someone that we can set-up on night three or four.

    Obviously, changing is possible.

I'll go for the krazy then cyb killing. As for the outspoken thing, the last time I did it, I was innocent and managed to bring suspicion down on myself. I imagine it will make me look suspicious if I change my patterns too much, so I'll post a lot on my days off of work, and not as much on the days that I'm working.

I wonder if one of us might want to suggest a viable strategy for the innocents, it could hurt us, but having one of us in the "trusted" group might be helpful. I think the presence of the detective may hurt that though.

Obviously let's give matteg and rikki the chance to reply to the thread before we vote, but for now lets look at krazy.

Looks like we just need to hear from risskijim still.
  1.
He read the PM assigning his role, but he has not signed in here. He was moved from game 2 because his internet access went down and he couldn't read the message for several days. I'm not sure when he will post -- he lives in Moscow. I believe that it is about 6:00pm there now, so I would guess that if you don't hear from him in the next four hours, you probably won't hear from him until morning Moscow time at the soonest.

I agree that Krazy's spreadsheets could be a threat once she gets info. I fear Toom's logical reasoning, as I've said before. Be careful of him. If he gets anywhere near one of us early, I'm for wacking him. So we can reach a majority I vote to off Krazytxan.

Don Lucchese, don't say too much. IF and only if we need a vocal poster it needs to be someone about whom they know nothing about how they play. Know anyone who got wacked on Day 1 for 0 posts? hehe

The timing of the vote is when either I receive PMs from all three parties (mafia, detective, doctor) or when the timer expires. I set the timer at tomorrow morning.

"The timing of the vote is when either I receive PMs from all three parties (mafia, detective, doctor) or when the timer expires. I set the timer at tomorrow morning."

I think this means we should look who's online when he posts as there's a higher probability that the doctor or detective will be on.

I also think that those who have posted before the game starts will obviously be more vocal in the beginning and thus more likely to point fingers and vote:

    cybrarian
    darvon
    krazytxan
    malteg
    piemaster
    Risskijim
    SteveGriff
    SuitedJock
    theriveriakid

those are all the people that have posted - with TRK and stevegriff being the most prolific. I also expect the town to lynch one of the above the first day - as they will have the most posts to seem "suspicious."

P.S. Oh and Nside how is the voting working now? Is it Majority as in 10 votes on day 1 - or is it just like in game 2 where the person with the most votes dies?
  4.
This one will have voting like the first one. so yes, 10 votes (or 11, I forget the exact number of players) will be required on day 1.
