well if you want to be considered a candidate for detective you have to do the following:

    1) cast doubt on irish

    2) present the people you have investigated and why

    3) present the target for today's lynching (probably irish)

    4) explain your earlier statements asking the detective to come out

    5) explain why you havn't come out

and I knew earlier that irish was mafia because I investigated him, but I didn`t come out with that because he didn`t really play any role and because I hoped he would die anyway because of non-voting

I like the suicide plan - also it gets the needed votes for 1 person down to only 5 (I think) meaning we can vote Toom off easily.

I think we have only 1 of the 2 options - since we won't have time to lynch someone if the detective thing takes too long

Wait, wait, wait. What's probably going to happen if you commit suicide? They'll lynch no one and let irish investigate. Least that's what I'd do.

    How does this affect us?

We don't have to let them lynch no1 - since only 5 votes will be needed we can lynch Toom once jim comes on making it 5-4, then killing some1 at night makes it 4-4 and we win

    Let's run the scenarios.

If we stay put and matt get's lynched, matt commits suicide and they lynch no one, or matt delacres as detctive and get's lynched anyways and we're at 6-4 going into night. Irish has 3 known innocents out of 10 of us. so 4/7 people left to investigate are mafia.

If we stay put and for whatever reason matt doesn't get lynched, we win by killing any innocent.

If matt commits suicide and we convince them to lynch an innocent, we win at 4-4.

What I think we need to do is whatever strategy we feel like would avoid a lynching tonight.

The one thing I like about matt coming out as the detective is it gives us plausible deniabllity for why we didn't vote to lynch him.

I'm not sure what the right strategy is, but I think our best shot is thrying to avoid a lynching today. Or killing toom before SJ comes back on. I don't think that's likely right now, as we haven't heard from AP in a while.

I think we're basically betting against irish finding one of us in the remaning nights, because that's probably the only way we win.

    Hey guys,

I have to apologize to you. I played the whole game pretty bad, and maybe it`s already too late to turn things around, but at least I can try it.

I am the detective. I totally agree that this sounds suspicious, but it is true anyway. Let me explain what I did:

Night 1: I investigated McFoldem. He played his mafia role pretty well in Game 1, and I wanted to know what he is this time. He is innocent.

Day 1: I missed this day completely. I spent the whole day at the university without internet access. I came back before the deadline, ready to cast a vote, but darvon already had been lynched. However, his behaviour had been so suspicious that I would have voted to lynch him, too. But please notice that our "detective", irishiain,

Night 2: I investigated irishiain (mafia). He was the first one who followed darvon`s flawed idea by posting an "investigation report". I was very suspicious of all the supporters, because that plan would have, as piemaster stated, actively helped the mafia. When it turned out that the plan wouldn`t get much support, irish suddenly wanted to see darvon lynched BECAUSE OF THAT PLAN. So I had a strong feeling that he was mafia, and I was right with it.

Day 2: I cast a vote for irish, hoping to get a momentum going, but that didn`t work. Later that day, everyone wanted to lynch TheWhale, which was fine for me as well, because he also had been on my suspect list as a supporter of darvon`s plan. So I changed my vote to him. Unfortunately he turned out to be innocent.

Night 3: I investigated TRK. The reasons are pretty obvious. He had played a leading role in the two lynchings off innocents before, and he is generally very quick in accusing people. He knew that he was in trouble, too, and made a long post defending himself (p.38). I immediately supported him, hoping to turn the momentum away from him. However, I thought it was far too early to reveal myself.

Day 3: I was offline most of the time to see the Hamburg Sea Devils lose yet another NFL Europe game. When I came back, TRK was the leading vote getter, but some people were uncertain, and so he didn`t get lynched. I left my vote for no-one stand. On a side note, this was the first time TRK showed suicidal tendencies by voting for himself. I should have made a remark about that! :(

Night 4: I investigated cicerius. We had had some kind of private discussion the day before about whether to lynch TRK, and I wanted to know if he was a tricky mafioso trying to manipulate me, or just an innocent seeking advice. He turned out to be innocent.

Day 4: This is the day where things started to go COMPLETELY wrong. People started to accuse each other for no serious reasons. Evv and again TRK developed as the leading vote getters. I went offline for some time, knowing I would be back with plenty of time left to cast my vote for evv, if necessary. But when I came back, TRK HAD ALREADY COMMITTED SUICIDE! What a dumb move! He was talking all the time about things like "At 9-5, we are in the shit", and then DELIBERATELY weakens the innocents. I still don`t get it.
However, when he was dead, everyone wanted evv to follow him, which was fine for me. He was high on my suspect list as well. I intended not to vote because it wasn`t necessary, but McFoldem demanded that I do so, and so I voted right before nside closed the thread.

Night 5: I investigated SteveGriff. I was now pretty sure that most of the mafia guys were laying low - such as irish - and I wanted to begin to find out who of these guys - SG, SJ, AuPanner and Russki - were mafia. Unfortunately, SG died the same night. nside didn`t even send me a reply to my PM.

Day 5: Here I made a really terrible mistake. I should have declared myself immediately before anyone else could claim to be the detective. Instead I tried to be super-clever and made a post like "detective, please come out", hoping the mafia would think that I am not the detective and don`t need to be killed the next night. I hoped that toom might reach a critical mass of votes quickly and without my help (other than my vote). I haven`t investigated him yet, so I cannot say for sure, but I am 95% certain that he is mafia.

    Therefore I think the following:

irishiain - 100% mafia because of investigation

toom - 95% mafia: his posts are EXTREMELY suspicious: wild accusations that are proven completely wrong etc...

Russkijim, AuPanner, SJ, ey215, toronexti: These guys are laying extremely low. I would say that probably 3 of these 5 are mafia, but I really don`t know who.

Spoonie: Really no idea. His posts before the evv lynching were somewhat fishy, but if he was drunk, that might explain that.

McFoldem, cicerius: 100% innocent because of investigation

    Some (rhetorical) questions:

    1. Why was irishiain the first one to post an "investigation list", following darvon`s idea, although this plan would have GREATLY favored the mafia? Because he IS mafia!

    2. Why did he react so pissed when I named him on my suspect list the first time? I knew at that time that he was mafia, but he couldn`t know I knew that. But his reaction was priceless: He grumpled something about "Please spell my name correctly!" He really isn`t a good liar. When he became the main suspect in game #1, and someone for whatever reason suggested he could the claim to be the doctor, he did exactly that, by writing 1(one!) sentence: "I am the doctor." Nothing else.

    3. If I was mafia, why didn`t I come out earlier this day, claiming to be the detective? McFoldem, cicerius, etc: you guys really had no idea of anything at that point. I could have made a post containing only 1 sentence: "I am the detective. Please lynch player X!", and you would have been happy to do exactly that. My "mafia friends" would have casted the missing votes then, and the game would be over now. But why didn`t I do this? BECAUSE I AM NOT MAFIA!!

I will probably be offline for the next few hours. I`ll have to go to the university today, and I definitely cannot miss classes for this game (although I really would like to do that!). I will check in as early and as often as I can, so please don`t lynch in a mood without giving me the chance to self-defend.

This is our last chance. Don`t waste it!

Irish says he won`t come back, so he cannot react to that. It should be enough to convince at least one of the other five innocents not to vote for me, don`t you think?

Of course this means that no mafia may vote for me unless it is completely hopeless. One or two mafia should support me by saying "sounds reasonable" etc. and vote for irish.
